  • star rating  I got picked up from my hotel in Nusa Due at 1.30am. It was a bit of a drive to. Batur but we had a quick Banana pancake... read more for breakfast at the base and then headed off. I am not going to lie it was a tough climb. I only climbed the first half and then our guide offered us us a choice of getting a motorbike for the second half which I did (also so worth it as it added to the adventure). We climbed the last 10 mins again and watched the sun come up. It is very cold at the top so bring more clothes. We then cooked eggs at the top for second breakfast!), had a little walk around and then walked back down. The walk down was much easier and I had no problems. We had a very patient guide called Eka who was super kind with me. I do recommend doing this trip but also. be aware it has got quite commercial. There were 400 people trekking up the volcano the morning I went.
